Well i mean test every dark stain if you want dark floors and every light stain if you want light.
Weathered oak stain on red oak floors.
We are considering a mix of weathered oak and mixed with gray stain which i found scouring the net.
To minimize the orange effect that comes with aging oil based polyurethane protective coats we used a water based polyurethane to protect the floors.
We set on minwax special walnut and weathered oak to give us the look we wanted but that did not work at all.

White oak and red oak will look different when the same stains are applied to them.
Whie using a green based brown on red oak can help to cancel out some of the redness you re always going to have tones of red in red oak.
