There appear to be two major causes for this mine had the more frequent of the two.
Water on floor of car back seat.
There is a cowl system that usually uses several layers to prevent water from passing through the air intake which is on the passenger side above the a c evaporator.
The heater core is like a little radiator which water passes through under the dashboard to heat the cabin.
Water dripping onto the floor of the car from the air conditioner is not.
One is that the sunroof drains can get clogged.
I have a 2010 chevy malibu and i found water in the floor behind my passenger seat.
There is no water anywhere else except the back seat floor behind the passenger seat.
When air conditioners take humidity out of the air in the passenger compartment they end up collecting a lot of water that has to drain out of the car.
It did it again a couple days later but this time it hadn t been raining.
Another good indication is if the liquid is only collecting on the passenger side where most heater cores are located.
The drains run down the c pillars just behind the rear doors and if clogged the water backs up and runs down onto the floors.
Check to see whether the liquid collecting in the car is antifreeze or water don t taste it.
During a heavy or prolonged rain or carwash water collects on the rear interior floor boards.
Water dripping out of the air conditioner drain onto the ground is totally normal.
